4IR.org NOVEL & ADAPTIVE THINKING SKILLS COACH

Hi, I’m Cecilio ‘C.J.’ Mills  your 4IR.org Novel and Adaptive Thinking Skills Coach. I have a deep, deep passion for competition, giving knowledge, and helping increase self-sufficiency. I look forward to helping you create solutions, adapt process, and think strategically.

I am a husband, father of three, son of a Panamanian mother and Costa Rican father, brother to a sister and brother, giver of knowledge, and a project management ninja. I am also a Speech and Debate Champion, Golden Glove’s champion, and collegiate baseball player, energy efficiency geek, avid technologist, backyard farmer, and a teacher. I come to you by way of the beautifully diverse Bay Area, CA.

I am the Founder & Principal Consultant for Creative Adaptive Thinking, a solutions design firm that happens to teach project management. I have served in Program/Project Management roles in R&D, High Tech, Enterprise Security, Construction, Government, Non-profit, and Education. I combine creative thinking with a disciplined, calculated approach to architect innovative solutions for clients.

It is this diverse set of experiences with success and failure in multiple industries amidst many types of people that I have come to recognize the importance of creative problem solving and personal adaptability, sometimes in real time, to innovate and contribute quality, productivity, and process improvements. Formally known as Novel and Adaptive Thinking, it has allowed me to manage complex and technical projects, implement programs at home and overseas, be recognized for strengths in leadership and communication, and work well with people of all levels and abilities.

I hold a BS in Business with an emphasis in Organizational Communications and Public Relations, and earned a teaching credential completing a Masters in Education Program. I am an Agile Certified Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), and have authored an Asset Management and Business Process Patent. I coach project managers on technical and soft skills, develop and facilitate project management certification courses for corporations and individuals in group settings, and help firms to develop and strengthen their Project & Program Management Offices.

When not involved in Project Management, I spend time at Pacific Ring Sports as the assistant Boxing Trainer helping to introduce people to the sport of boxing, explain the fundamentals, and teach the science. I am forever chasing growing a 100 lb. pumpkin and am always looking forward to the next DIY project, be it setting up a home A/V studio, installing cold air intake in my Ford, completely remodeling and renovating a bathroom, or building a new garden bed with drip irrigation.

I actively volunteer with Soulciety.org Non-Profit Organization to fight against poverty and provide youth with access to technology. With Novel and Adaptive Thinking, we applied project management to help the organization develop a system for refurbishing hundreds of donated PCs, managing shipping and logistics, & designing and conducting technology training for instructors to teach youth. We travel annually to the Philippines to do mission work bringing books, computers, hygiene supplies, and shoes. Most importantly, on display is our use of Novel and Adaptive Thinking to connect the people with each other, technology, and fine arts. These experiences drive me to pay forward these concepts to you.

I call San Francisco, California home.
